Samael - Medieval Prophecy (1988)

After Bathory began their Pagan metal approach in 1988 there weren't many bands who looked like to continue their specific Black Death Metal legacy but this obscure Swiss band came along. Two brothers with an obvious Bathory and Black Death Metal obession began Samael and recorded a raw demo and in 1988 released this great crude raw Ep or 3 song single. This Ep had a  Hellhammer/Gothic Doom metal vibe combined with Quorthon like vocals that almost surpass the master himself. Vorphalack hade the most incredible raw dark occult, yet conviencing Black Death Metal voice I'd heard since Quorthon. It had it's own unique character specific to him which made it original. I watched with anticipaton towards Samael's debut album Worship Him (1991) but quite frankly it failed to deliever and was a Black thrash outing at it's best. Medieval prophecy Ep and their demos remain their Black Death Metal legacy for me. Track "Into The Pentagram" here is a bone chilling dark Black Metal classic. Must of put a proud smile on Quorthons lips in the day.

Hellhammer - Triumph Of Death demo II (1983)

Death Metal of the crudest rawest and darkest kind.. This the 2nd demo by Hellhammer is a musical monster. Crude raw distortion of Motörhead, crudest punk and early  Venom, but with a personality and style unique to themselves. Toms vocals here sound like Lemmys kid brother from Hell..raw, yet tasteful and conviencing in a way 99.9% of the pseudo thräsh bands with "raw" vocals grandly fail at. Tom and Quorthon are among the few who can pull this off without it sounding comical or inane. This demo has great original songs with good memorible riffs. The sheer rawness and Venom of the music is amazing, DEATH METAL if there ever was any. The druming on this demo reminds mw alot of the speed druming Abaddon of Venom used. I love this demo and to my ears one of the extremest audioble releases outthere. Had Tom approached  the Discharge/Varukers punk scene of the day.. the need for Celtic Frost had never materialized. A few morronic prog rock ("heavy metal") journalists killed this band because of their inability to understand this form of music.

Bathory - The Return... (1985)

Satanic Black Death Metal classsic that is in a class of it's own. This album captures a dark occult satanic atmosphere in a very rare way. The only other band I know who has achived this is Jacula. This is dark and evil  in a conviencing way and it never goes into the idiotic imature posing mode the other Metal bands often fell victem to. Avantgarde Satanic Heavy music with Quorthons trademark demonic vocals now in high gear. The debut album was in Motörhead/Venom/Uk punk territory with Quorthons vocals being the new thing. Here vocals and music are both in a league of their own. This was also at the peak of Quorthons personal interest in Satanism and the Occult. This album has a wider field of interest . This is music for dark autaum and winter nights.

Semen of Satan - demo 1984 (Germany)

Obscure Crude as hell  Black Death Metal from Germany.. Crude Raw and dark has the abyss itself, raw vocals, the music crude raw ripping distortion..Pre thräsh era monster in other words. Musically Semen of Satan is a mix of Motörhead ,Venom and period Metal, and in a way remind me of a mix of early demo era Hellhammer and Poison (Ger). Great crude demo that will be appreciated by connisuers of pre thräsh era Death Metal.

Siege - Drop dead (1984)

Wow this is one of the extremest and intense things ever recorded.. The Hardcore crowd calls these guys music "power violence".. I call this Death Metal of the fastest and extremest kind. Kreator's extremest stuff from 86, Assassin's tracks such as "Bullets or Living Deaths track "Horrible Infantcide" come close to the intensity here. These guys recorded this album quality demo in 84..and few compilation tracks and than fadded into oblivion. Siege blew away litterally everyone except Sodom (equaled them!) during this period. These guys need more attention within extreme deathmetal circles.. These guys make Slayer and their cloners sound slow and weak. Download and get blown away in a major way..

Motörhead - No Sleep til Hammersmith (1981)

If you call yourself a fan of extreme rock, speed, hardcore, death metal or whatever fan and you haven't had this as your stepple diet, than in my books you ain't for real. This was and (for my bucks) is one of the extremest and best recordings of the 1980's. You have the original trio at their peak, blasting away as if there was no tomorrow. I remember when I heard this the first time.. Overkill on high volume changed my life and I haven't looked back since. Kids are impressed with Slayer n their clone hordes..but those bands ain't shit compared to Motörhead at their rawest heaviest and best. Enough said. This is an extended version with extra cuts. 30 years on this is still a monster.. Those double bassdrums n Lemmy n Fast Eddie on Over kill will fry ya mind 4 ever. Venom and Discharge/Varukers owe Motörhead a lot! Play this L O U D !!!!!!!!!!!!!
